ONE OF the world's most notorious serial killers is dead. Canadian monster Clifford Olson died Friday in a hospital in Quebec after a long battle with cancer. The 71-year-old killer preyed on the young during his reign of terror in the late 1970s and early '80s in the Pacific coast province of British Columbia. And even after he was captured and incarcerated for life, he continued to torment his victim's families with his sinister manipulations of court process. Cops have always suspected there were more victims. For more, see our sister site CRIME SCENE USA

DID SERIAL SLAYER KILL CHRISTINE MORTON, OTHERS?

jilla | 1:07 PM | | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
DETECTIVES IN Austin, Texas are trying to a link a troubling 1988 cold case to the chillingly similar slaying two years earlier of Christine Morton, pictured right. Now, the working theory is that a serial killer may have been at work although Morton's husband has been in prison for nearly 25 years for the crime. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Debra Jane Baker of Austin was beaten to death with a blunt object in her bed while she slept--identical to Morton's slaying 12 miles away. Morton's husband has been trying to get DNA testing to determine if
there are links to another unsolved homicide: the 1980 bludgeoning death of Mildred McKinney who died in nearly the exact same circumstances.

Morton has always claimed he was innocent and blaming his wife's slaying on an unknown intruder.
About two weeks ago, cold case detectives began re-interviewing Baker's relatives based on a tip from Morton's lawyers with the Innocence Project of New York. The tip included the name and DNA profile of a man whose DNA was discovered on a recently tested piece of evidence from the Morton case: a bandanna that also contained Christine Morton's blood and one of her hairs.
THE MURDERS:
• Christine Morton, 31, was killed in August 1986 by eight blows to her head as she lay in bed. A neighbor checking on the Mortons' 3-year-old son wandering outside alone, discovered her body beneath a comforter, suitcase and wicker basket.
• McKinney, 73, also was attacked in bed, according to blood splatters on her headboard. She was found Nov. 4, 1980, on her bedroom floor also beneath household items — a reclining chair, small table and vacuum cleaner. Unlike Morton, her hands were bound and she had been raped.
• Baker, 34, was killed Jan. 13, 1988, by six blows to the head while lying in bed. She was alone at the time; her two young children were spending the night with her estranged husband.

COPS STILL HOPEFUL ON BOBBY ADAMS 1991 MURDER

jilla | 3:42 AM | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
ADAMS
HE WAS a humble taxi driver doing the graveyard shift, when a mysterious murderer hopped into the back of his cab.
Bobby Adam's body had never been found, but his vehicle was covered in blood near his Charleston, WV and cops believe that 20-years ago he was the victim of a horrifically violent crime.
"People don't lose that much blood and survive," said Charleston Police Sgt. Bobby Eggleton told The State Journal.
At the time, police knew only that the cab's passenger was a white man in his 40's, with blond hair and while over the years that have had suspects and persons of interest and even rumored locations of remains, none of them provided a body or charges.
But cops are refusing to give up on the case and have vowed to carry on investigating until they bring their killer to justice.
"DNA technology is progressing all the time," said one source close to the investigation.
"It's catching people who'd long thought they'd got away with their crimes and we're hopeful that someone or something will help us catch a break.
"We will not rest easy and neither should the killer."
C&H Taxi services made changes, too. They've updated their technology, including installing cameras inside of cabs and at the office to avoid similar situations.
C&H CEO Jeb Corey, who owned the cab Adams was driving, has also updated their technology, which he claims makes it: "Extremely difficult to get away with anything."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charleston Police Department at 320-348-6480.

NO CLOSURE IN 1974 NEW JERSEY DOUBLE SEX SLAYING

jilla | 5:31 AM | Be the first to comment!
On August 9, 1974, Mary Ann Pryor, age 17, of North Bergen, New Jersey, right,  planned on going to the Garden State Plaza Mall with her friend, Lorraine Marie Kelly, 16. At about 4:30 p.m., the two girls were dropped off at a Ridgefield, New Jersey bus stop by Lorraine’s boyfriend. It was assumed that the girls would then take a bus to the mall. However, this was not confirmed and the girls, both students at North Bergen High School, were known to be regular hitchhikers. Mary Ann Pryor was last seen wearing bell bottom pants with patches and a halter top. She was also wearing a necklace with a gold cross. Neither girl returned home that evening. On August 14, 1974, the bodies of Mary Ann Pryor and Lorraine Kelly were found lying in a wooded area behind Rolling Ridge Road in Montvale, New Jersey. They had been raped, beaten and strangled. Their ankles bound. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office or Sgt. Russ Christiana at 1-201-226-5677.

JAY MERCIER ARRESTED IN 1980 RITA ST. PETER MURDER

jilla | 5:17 AM | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
MAINE State Police detectives have arrested a 55-year-old man in the grisly 1980 slaying of Rita St. Peter, 20. On July 5, 1980, cops say the attractive young woman had been drinking at a bar in Madison and staying with friends in nearby Anson, working at a drive-in restaurant. She was last seen walking across a bridge in the early morning hours until her body was found dumped later that day. Cops said at the time they had suspects in the slaying but couldn't seal the deal and the case went cold. Although detectives would not
confirm the cause of death at the time, the Bangor Daily News said she had been severely beaten and then run over by a car. In 1980, one law enforcement official suggested that St. Peter's murder may be linked to that of a 24-year-old teacher from Philadelphia whose skelton was found in the area. Cops arrested Jay S. Mercier, 55.  Mercier is not a suspect in any other unsolved murders in Maine, McCausland said in a telephone interview.
“This is the oldest cold case to date that we’ve been able to solve,” Lt. Christopher Coleman of the Maine State Police told the Bangor Daily News. MORE IN THE BANGOR NEWS

LYNETTE GIBSON KILLER GUILTY IN 1992 SEX SLAYING

jilla | 5:02 AM | | | | Be the first to comment!
NEARLY 20 years after Lynette Nancy Gibson was murdered in Saginaw, Michigan, her killer has been convicted. Rodney Alton Slayton, 45, was found guilty in the grisly 1992 homicide. Gibson's body was found in the parking lot of a bar. A 35-year-old mother of five, her body was barely clothed on that frigid February night. She had been raped and strangled and years later cops linked his semen to Gibson. Slayton later told his ex-wife and her uncle that he strangled Gibson with a seat belt while she was sitting in the passenger seat of his mother’s car.
The case quickly went cold until April 2009 when the case was reopened and with
the use of DNA linked the case to creepy Slayton.

Gibson's sister Dorothy Davis said Lynette now has 14 grandchildren she will never see but the result of the investigation was sweet.
She said:  “It’s been real frustrating, wondering will they ever find somebody. It hurt [seeing crime scene photos] a lot but I wanted to see it so I can move on and get it out of my head. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, a grandmother. She has 14 grandchildren she will never see.”

MARYANNE HUMPHREY'S FAMILY REFUSING TO GIVE UP

PINT SIZED ASSASSIN
HAPPIER TIMES
SHE was working alone that night in the Circle K gas station, when a pint sized assassin walked in and pointed a gun at her.
Wearing a hoodie with a baseball cap on his head and an American flag draped around their head and shoulders, the 5ft2 thug then marched the grandmother to the back of the store and executed her with single bullet to the head.
She died instantly on the floor of the Douglasville store.
But almost two years on, her family are refusing to give up hope that her killer, who may be either a male or female, or possibly a juvenile will be caught.
Her daughter Karen Kaiser told the Times Georgian that she hopes because of the current economy, someone will be willing to turn someone else in, regardless of the relationship.
She said: “Most people who commit this kind of crime are not hanging around with people who won’t turn them in for that kind of money. The root of all evil is money.
She added: "The person is still out there. You don't know if that could happen to another family, another person can loose their grandma. I know that person will get their punishment. At the moment I'm trying to forgive."
Yet, she remains strong and said what she wants is closure for her mother’s murder.
She said: “We can never scar up from this until someone is caught,” she said. “Only when a person is caught can we truly heal.”
Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller has added to a reward set up to find the killer, upping it from $20,000 to $30,000 and he's hoping that may provide someone with the extra incentive.
He said: “We’re working even as we speak.”
Anyone with information on Humphrey’s killer or would like to collect the $30,000 reward money is asked to call Oliver at 678-486-1247.

ARREST MADE IN CANDY LADY MARY WRIGHT MURDER

KILLER?
CANDY LADY
SHE was a beloved grandma, known locally as the Candy Lady, because she gave out sweets and treats to the children in her Lubbock, TX neighborhood.
But Mary Wright's delightful tradition came to an end, after cops found her brutally stabbed body on her home.
Concerned neighbors who had raised the alarm because they hadn't seen her for a few days, were stunned by the news that the popular pensioner had been taken from them.
Former city councilman T. J. Patterson, told KCBD that Davis was well known and thought of adding:
"She wasn't the mayor of Lubbock, she was just Ms. Davis, the candy lady that cared about human beings."
With no immediate leads, even from DNA processing, the case quickly went ice cold.
A police insider revealed: "It was really frustrating. This was a senseless death of a very popular lady. There was not one person who did not want to see justice for such a heinous crime."
But in recent months, detectives resubmitted evidence that was recovered at the original scene in hopes that advances in DNA technology would possibly open a new lead in the case.
And the results came back with a match - previously unknown suspect, Clarence Lee Hooker, 46, who was already behind bars on an unrelated charge.
As a result detectives continued the investigation using this new information and eventually were able to submit a murder charge.

BANKER BUSTING US ATT. TOM WALES' MURDER COLD

jilla | 6:13 AM | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
FOR A DECADE, Asst. U.S. Attorney for Seattle Thomas Wales' murder has been unsolved. Now, the FBI is about to announce a new initiative to bring his killer to justice. His specialty was banking and business fraud although cops won't say if his work had anything to do with his murder. What's known is this: On the night of Oct. 11, 2001 Wales was sitting at his computer in his home office in the basement of his Queen Anne neighborhood home. Someone with a handgun snuck up to the area carefully avoiding the security lights in his backyard and shot him in the neck, through a window. The shots were heard by a neighbor who called 911.
The U.S. Attorney wasn't even supposed to be home. He was supposed to have dinner with his girlfriend but changed his plans at the last minute to work on a fundraising letter for an anti-gun group that he was president of. Insiders believe the 9/11 terrorist attacks may have hampered the probe with resources needed quickly being shuffled elsewhere.
Charles Mandingo said Wales' case may have gone cold because of the fevered politics of the time (has anything changed?) He told the  SKY VALLEY CHRONICLE: “The F.B.I. gave the investigation the code name SEPROM—short for “Seattle prosecutor murder”—but the bureau set the reward for tips leading to a prosecution in the case at $25,000, which was widely regarded in Seattle as an insultingly small amount, and did not offer local investigators assistance from Washington, D.C. We put a lot of agents on the Wales case from the beginning.
"But we got no backfill from headquarters—that is, additional agents. In other major cases that headquarters really cared about, they’d say, ‘You’re not going to bleed resources, and you’ll get all the backfill you need.’ The feeling was that H.Q. was so preoccupied with 9/11 that they were neglecting the issue of whether it was fair to the office to have to put all its resources on the case without getting backfill."

NATALEE HOLLOWAY COULD BE DECLARED DEAD: JUDGE

jilla | 4:47 AM | | | | | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
DEAD?
NATALEE HOLLOWAY could be declared dead within days after a judge ruled that her father had met the legal presumption that she had passed away.
As we reported here six years after the gorgeous teen went missing during a graduation trip to Aruba, Dave Holloway has taken the sad step of trying to have her ruled dead and bring legal closure to the case.
Recounting the extensive searches on land and air of the holiday isle he said there was no sign of his daughter being found.
His attorney, Karen Hennecy, asked, ""Dave, do you believe Natalee is alive today?"
"No," he answered quietly.
He added that he partly based his decision on the fact that the man, long suspected of killing her, Joran Van Der Sloot, has claimed in the past that he watched her die.
Tape emerged this week of him admitting to killing 21-year-old Peruvian student Stephany Flores, in a Lima hotel room, which we reported here
Although her mom Beth's attorney, Charlie DeBardeleben, said, she was "horrified" by her ex-husband's effort Probate Judge Alan King ruled that he has met the legal presumption of her death.
It's up to someone to prove she did not die six years ago on the high school trip.

MILITANT KILLER GEORGE WRIGHT BUSTED IN PORTUGAL

jilla | 4:02 AM | | | | | | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
WRIGHT IN 1970
A MURDERING militant who killed a war hero, escaped from prison and went on to carry out one of the most brazen hijackings in US history, has been captured after more than 40-years in Portugal.
George Wright's run from the law began in November, 1962, when he killed gas station attendant and father of two, Walter Paterson, in Wall, NJ.
But eight years into his 15 to 30 years sentence, for killing the decorated World War Two veteran, in 1970, he manged to escape with three other men from the Bayside State Prison.
The FBI said he hooked up with the Black Liberation Army in Detroit, living in a "communal family" with several member.
It was with them that he hatched a daring plan to hijack a plane.
Dressed as a priest, and using the alias Rev L. Burgess,  in July 1972, Wright boarded a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit to Miami.        Together with three men  two women and three small children from his communal group, including Wright's companion and their 2-year-old daughter, they took the 86 passengers hostage.
Then they demanded a whopping $1million ransom - the highest of it's kind at the time - to free them.
With little choice an FBI agent delivered a 70-pound satchel full of money — wearing only a pair of swim trunks, per the hijacker's instructions — and the passengers were released.
Then the hijackers  forced the plane to Boston, where an international navigator was taken aboard, and the group flew on to Algeria, where they sought asylum.
But although they were taken in by Eldridge Cleaver, the American writer and activist, who had been permitted by Algeria's Socialist government to open an office of the Black Panther Movement in that country in 1970, things did not got well for the group.
Algerian officials returned the plane and the money to the U.S. at the request of the American government, and briefly detained the hijackers before letting them stay.
Their stay in Algeria said their movements were restricted, and the president ignored their calls for asylum and requests to return them the ransom money.
The group eventually made its way to France, where Wright's associates were tracked down, arrested, tried and convicted in Paris in 1976.
But the French refused to extradite them to the U.S.
Wright however remained at large and his case was among the top priorities when the New York-New Jersey Fugitive Task Force was formed in 2002.
Michael Schroeder, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service said the address in Portugal was one of several on a list of places they wanted to check out.
He added: "It was another box to get checked, so to speak."
But when they pulled his details on the national ID registry they found his fingerprints matched with Wrights.
The news will no doubt come as a relief for Patterson's family who have previously told the Star Ledger that his evasion from capture had left their psychological wounds unhealed.

KATIE SEEFELDT was just 12 when she vanished from Jackson County, Missouri. Cops investigating at the time believed she had run away from home but now, nine years later a new effort is underway to find out what happened to her.
Her mom Sholly told a local TV station: "She was very outgoing and loving." But she added that her daughter was also pushing the boundaries."I wanted her not to be the wild child that I was, which she kind of resented me for that. In October
2002, Katie was grounded. They were living in a neighborhood near 18th Street and Highway 24 in Independence. Early one Sunday, about 1 a.m., the phone rang and Katie answered it."(She) said, 'You guys know I can't have phone calls this late, and if you continue to call me, my mom is going to keep me grounded longer,'" Sholly Seefeldt said. She said when she woke up the next morning, her daughter and a lot of her new clothes were gone. "I had a bad feeling in my gut," she said. "There was nothing really bad between us. That's why I'm having, that's where my hard time is."
In 2007, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children made an age-progression photo of Katie Seefeldt, showing what she might look like at 16. It generated no tips. Answers about Katie, now 21, remain elusive. They said they're reopening the cold case because nine years have passed. Anyone who knows anything about her whereabouts is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 816-524-4302 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

WIFE TOO FAT FOR COMIC KILLER MICHAEL GEORGE

ACCUSED comic book killer Michael George and his wife Barbara were constantly at each other's throats, a witness told his murder trial in Detroit. Michael George , 51, is charged with the July 13, 1990 murder of Barbara, found dead inside their comic book shop.
Kim Koliba--who didn't actually know the couple personally--says she overheard at least 30 of the pair's arguments in the summer of 1990. Koliba worked at a nail salon in a strip mall near the comic store owned by the Georges, testified about a July 13, 1990, spat over money between the pair with a tone more disturbing than the
rest. She said: "The argument that day was a different-than-normal argument. It was much louder. He was much angrier. It seemed more violent."Four hours later Barbara was dead with a bullet in her brain. George was convicted in 2008. A judge granted a new trial later that year, citing prosecutorial misconduct and potential new evidence. The motive: money, she was overweight and he was having an affair--with one of their employees.

COPS NAB DAVID GRIMES IN 1974 MURDER OF WIDOW, 75

BUSTED
SHE was smothered to death in her bed 34-years ago, but although cops had a suspect they didn't have enough to nail him.
At the time they suspected David Grimes, now 64, in the death of 75-year-old Ruth VanHouten, because he'd been arrested several times near her Ithaca, NY home for residential burglaries.
Many of the cases involved residential burglaries and the assault of elderly women who lived alone.  But thanks to their excellent and painstaking evidence collection at the time, in January 2010, when Lieutenant Christopher Townsend reviewed the case he got a break.
When he sent it the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center in Albany, using current technology, DNA was gathered from the evidence and entered into a DNA database.
It came back with a match - the man they'd suspected all along.
Grimes is currently an inmate at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York  and when investigators gathered a DNA sample from Grimes in prison, which came back positive for a match.
As he is currently serving a 50 years to life sentence for burglary, robbery and assault convictions from crimes he committed in Ithaca VanHouten's family made the decision not to hold a criminal trial.
His first scheduled parole hearing in 2040, when he will be 93 years old, so they took that into account that Grimes is serving a life sentence, and did not want to relive the events of the crime.

COPS BUST PENA IN 1982 MURDER OF SHEREE STRONG

jilla | 5:05 AM | | | | | Be the first to comment!
MANUEL Richard Pena is surely a prince among men. Over the past 30 years he has been accused of all kinds of violent acts against his family. In 1976, he shot a now ex-wife in the genitals during a spat, in 1989 punched his stepfather, 72, and in 2004 he beat his grandson, 7, so severely he gave the boy a bloody nose. And he always managed to pretty much walk away--until now.
On Friday, the 69-year-old headcase was charged with the 1982 murder of his then girlfriend, Sherri Strong. Cops found her in his house lying facedown,
nude and with a rope around her neck. She was pregnant. Pena, then 34, told detectives he found her in the garage which was clearly staged. But there didn't appear to be enough evidence in 1982 and the case was put on the shelf. Strong had dumped him before the murder because--take a guess--he was physically abusive. And she was terrified of him.
Now, on his seventh marriage, the old monster runs a photo studio out of his home. According to cops, he didn't think he would ever get busted for Sherri Strong. He was wrong.

FINGERPRINT NAILS RONALD MACDONALD IN '78 SLAY

jilla | 4:28 AM | | | | | Be the first to comment!
JUSTICE was a long time coming for Arlene Roberts but it did finally arrive. The widow, 80, was murdered on Oct. 30, 1978 in her trailer at a mobile home park on Lake Washington. Late last week cops busted a man in Reno named Ronald Wayne MacDonald, 50, as the murderer of long ago. King County detectives said a single fingerprint pointed the finger at MacDonald for the evil killing.
Sheriff Sue Rahr said: “DNA gets all the attention.
But other advances, including fingerprint identification ... solve crimes as well. It is very gratifying to finally solve the murder of an 80 year-old woman, thanks to AFIS and great detective work."
Roberts was found with hands and feet bound with nylon stockings and there was a gag in her mouth. A hair net was tightened around her neck. The trailer had been ransacked. Cops always theorized that robbery was the motive. But with little evidence the case went cold--until now. Cops got three finger print hits on MacDonald. MORE IN THE RENTON REPORTER

DEANIE PETERS VANISHED IN '81; WOULD HAVE BEEN 45

jilla | 4:27 AM | | | | | | | Be the first to comment!
SHE WOULD be approaching middle age now. Perhaps with children, maybe grandchildren. Instead, she is a question mark. Deanie Peters was just 14-years-old when she vanished on Feb. 5, 1981. Friends and family recently remembered the pretty brunette on what would have been her 45th birthday. In her honor, they gathered in Grand Rapids, Michigan and released 45 white balloons. Each of the ballons had her picture on it. Her former boyfriend Rob Mackey was
there. He told the Grand Rapids Press: "There are a lot of loved ones here. We're going to release these balloons in memory of Deanie, with hope and prayers that we'll get to the bottom of it. We'll not forget."
Leaders of a cold case team say they believe a man named Bruce Bunch was responsible for Deanie's disappearance and he buried her after killing her. He died in Kentucky before he could be questioned.
Deanie's body was never found. In February on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in collaboration with the Kent County Metro Cold Case team, has issued an alert that contains a rendering of what Peters, then 14, could look like as a 40-year-old. A FORMER P-Diddy protege, G-Dep who confessed to an 18-year-old murder could end up spending the next 15-year behind bars.
Back in 1993, the once promising rapper, who's real name is Trevell Coleman gunned down John Henkel outside of a New York housing complex.
He then went on to be signed by Bad Boy records owned by Sean Combs AKA P-Diddy, but his album Child Of The Ghetto peaked at just 106 in the charts and he was quickly dropped.
Although he scored a few hits since then, the 36-year-old's life has been mired with drug and alcohol problems and he made he admitted the murder in a bid to unburden himself as part of a 12-step drug program.
"I'm just trying to get right with God," he said at the time.
But it seems he hadn't realized that Henkel had died as a result of the attack and now the New York DA is refusing his bid to have the charges downgraded to manslaughter according to the New York Post.
Defense lawyer Anthony Ricco said: "I realize there are a lot of public pressure issues, and image issues."
He blamed the prosecution's hard line on the press the case has garnered and a publicity-conscious new DA, Cyrus Vance, adding the case would have remained ice cold without his client coming forward.
But prosecutors are refusing to budge and he now faces up to 15-years behind bars.

SEATTLE COPS CLOSE TO SOLVING '94 DOUBLE SLAYING

jilla | 6:14 AM | | | | | Be the first to comment!
SEATTLE COPS may be on the verge of solving a double murder that has been ice cold for 17 years.
Just after midnight on Jan. 27, 1994, a group of killers came up the steps of an apartment and banged on the door. The group was let in. Inside were Aalihya Brown and Nairobi Bass and it's believed that the pair knew their killers. Their bodies were found a short time later. Cops say the killers were after drugs in
the apartment. Aalihya Brown was just 16 -- and pregnant. Her boyfriend, Nairobi, was only 17. At the time of the murders, detectives interviewed the neighbors and they collected evidence from the apartment. But they still lacked that critical clue that will solve the case.
Det. Mike Ciesynski said: "We really feel that we are getting very, very close."
Nairobi's dad, Ed Bass said he hopes that something comes out of the renewed focus on the case - for his son and for himself. He said: "He deserves to get some closure. I deserve closure."
If you know anything about the case - call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. All calls are anonymous. There's a $1,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction. SEATTLE DOUBLE MURDER CLOSE TO SOLVED?

jilla | 6:04 AM | Be the first to comment!
On Wednesday, July 2, 2003, Joshua Wayne Crawford was found murdered in his apartment at 6949 Exeter Court at Kingsbrook Apartments in Frederick, Maryland. Crawford was found bound with duct tape when deputies responded at 12:42 pm. The cause of death was ruled asphyxiation and it was his 21st birthday. The crime appeared to be victim specific and upon investigation, it was determined that a Peavey 6 String Predator Electric Guitar with a hunter green base, chrome, a black neck and whammy bar was missing from the apartment. Was Crawford killed for the guitar?
His mom Terry Horman said she is convinced that someone will be prosecuted for her son's death but she has lingering
questions about his last moments.
"I do battle with the visions, the theories of how the murder went down," she said. "Did he suffer? Or was he taken instantly? I can just imagine. It stays with me every day."
If you have any information regarding these cases, please call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (301) 600-4131. Every tip that is received is investigated and you may remain anonymous. If you would like to speak with an investigator concerning one of the cases, please call (301) 600-3660.

JOHN BENJAMIN KENNEDY is a piece of work. And now, he is on trial for the sickening 1976 murder of a 17-year-old waitress in Oklahoma City. Detectives believe the 56-year-old convicted killer murdered Virginia Grace Kegans on Oct. 25, 1976. He was arrested last year after DNA linked him to the crime. It had come from the 1978 mutilation murder of a 15-year-old hooker. But now, prosecutors need to determine if there is enough evidence to go forward.
According to The Oklahoman, the case was so old that some police reports and evidence was missing. But yesterday, an old friend of Kennedy's told the court: he kept the knife in a sheath in his car and also
carried a gun in a holster.  Jenny White, 57, said she "first saw the rifle when Kennedy dared me to ride in his trunk during a 1976 outing to a lake with two others, including my twin sister."
Kegans, was shot in the head and her throat was cut, cops said. She left a boyfriend's apartment at 4 a.m., Oct. 25, 1976, to hitchhike back to Oklahoma City. Phillip Hanlin was also originally a suspect. He admitted having sex with her the day her body was found.
Hanlin said: “Grace could not wait for a ride … she said she would hitchhike back home … and left about 4 a.m." Her body was found under a bridge that afternoon on the North Canadian River. This resumes in November. CONVICTED KILLER CARRIED A KNIFE, GUN

JUSTICE
A SON'S refusal to give up on his mom's 1982 murder, finally paid off and cops believe that thanks to his persistence they finally have their man.
Amy Hurst’s body was found wrapped in an afghan and tied to the block 27 miles off shore in the Gulf of Mexico almost forty years.
But with no clue as to who she was, she was classified as a Jane Doe and buried.
The body was exhumed in 2001 in an unrelated investigation and classified as a homicide by blunt force.
Then in 2009 Amy's son Jeff Early, learned about the body through the doe network and thought it matched the description of his mother.
Then in July 2011, after a series of forensic tests the Pasco Sheriff’s Office announced that the body had been positively identified as that of Amy Hurst.
They now believe her killer was actually her husband at the time, William Gary Hurst and now they've charged him.
Back in 1982, her kids were living with their father in Michigan when Amy Hurst was reported missing.
Authorities say when they asked William what happened to her, he told them she left him.
Hurst is awaiting extradition to Florida.

MASS MURDERER CARL EDER ESCAPED FROM JAIL IN '74

jilla | 4:04 AM | | | | 1 Comment so far
WHERE IS Carl Alfred Eder? On Dec. 12, 1958 the 16-year-old butchered five members of the Pendergast family of El Cajon, California. Father Thomas Pendergast had picked him up hitchhiking the month before, the boy said he was homeless so the kind man took him in until he got a job. That decision would cost Pendergast his family. Thomas was at work when the massacre occurred. Eder told detectives that Diane Pendergast, 4, was bothering him and he exploded in rage. He threw the child against a wall, then grabbed a gun and shot the mom, Lois Pendergast in the head. Cops say the crazed teen grabbed a knife from his
suitcase and then slashed the throats of Diane and her brother Allen, 2. They were stabbed so violently, they were disemboweled. Thomas Jr., 6, and David, 9, were next and killed in the same gruesome way. When Thomas got home, Elder made him drive around until he fled on foot. When he got home he made the horrifying discovery. Eder was nabbed and charged with first-degree murder three days later and received two life terms.
In 1974, he escaped from a MINIMUM security prison. he has not been seen since. Two years later a badly composed body was discovered on the Pendergast property--chained to two cinder blocks. The male had been dead two weeks but it wasn't Eder.
