AN ASTONISHING development could the see case of the mysterious hijacker D.B Cooper closed after more than 40-years. 
An Oregon woman who says her uncle was the elusive criminal known and is now claiming that agents have told her that it is enough for them to close the file. 
Marla Cooper told 14 News is claiming her uncle, a man named Lynn Doyle Cooper, is the man who escaped with $200,000 after parachuting out of the Northwest Orient Airlines 727 flight, back in 1971.
Burdened by guilt, she had broken a 40-year family secret to reveal the mysterious skyjacker's true identity.
She said that she was eight years old when her uncle, whom she called L.D Cooper, came to her home, badly injured, for Thanksgiving in 1971 - the day after the infamous incident. 
He claimed his injuries were the result of a car crash, but given time to think about it, her parents came to believe that he was the hijacker. 
She never saw him again and was later told that he died in 1999.
Cooper  gave investigators with a photograph of LD and a guitar strap that he owned for fingerprint testing, the results of which have yet to be revealed.  
But she added that agents had told her: "Regardless of the findings of the fingerprints, they would be closing the case after this.
"He said, 'I am certain your uncle did it. I feel certain that your uncle did it. And that, what's the point in continuing the investigation?'"
As we reported here back in 1971 the man who's ticket was in the name of D.B Cooper boarded the Northwest Orient Airlines 727 flight took off. Then once it had taken off, the man who gave his name as Dan, handed a flight attendant a note: 'Miss, I've got a bomb, come sit next to me — you're being hijacked.'
He then opened a briefcase that appeared to contain explosives and demanded $200,000 and parachutes.

With little choice officials met his demands when the plane landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, where passengers and two flight attendants were released.
The man in 18F then ordered the flight crew to take the plane back into the air, insisting that it fly at an altitude of no more than 10,000 feet on its way to Mexico through Reno, Nevada.

About 40 minutes after take-off, a signal light in the cockpit showed that the plane's rear stairway had been extended and when the jet landed in Reno, the stairs were down and two parachutes, the money and Cooper were gone.
Marla Cooper however believes her uncle lost all the cash on the way down. 
The FBI have yet to comment on this development.

COPS ARREST SHAWN MARSH FOR 1983 MURDER

TIME and technology finally provided the key to unlocking a cold blooded murder almost three decades old.
Cops say that fingerprint analysis has finally linked Shawn Marsh to the brutal 1983 killing of Rodney Wyman, 29, and his hotel roommate.
They added that they were settling in for the night when one of them heard a noise in the back of the bedroom.
When Wyman approached the door, a gunman flung it open and shot him through the heart.
As Wyman staggered across the room and out of the front door, Marsh threw the roommate and screamed: "Where's the money," before kicking him in the neck and head.
Picking up the TV, its tamper alarm alerted the front office who ran round to find Marsh and gunman fleeing.    
For almost 30-years he appeared to have gotten away with it.
But when he was recently arrested for an undisclosed crime, his fingerprints were entered into a nationwide database containing more than 100 million samples.
His prints matched those taken 28 years ago from Room 74.
He is pleading not guilty.
A man who identified himself as Marsh’s uncle told The Boston Globe before the arraignment that his nephew is being framed and that he had nothing to do with the crime.

While technological advancements have proven to be great tools in crime fighting, Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr. made solving cold cases a top priority when he took office in 2007, authorities said.

DNA REOPENS 1978 CARROLL BONNET MURDER

HE WAS found naked, face down on top of couch pillows, gaping stab wounds splurging blood from his stomach. The cut phone cord, scattered newspapers and magazines and towels covered in human waste told cops there had been a struggle before Carroll Bonnet's brutal 1978 murder.
Then there was the puzzling note left at the scene that read, "I'm leaving this crime with only one clue. Find it yourself. Die pig. –Helter." 
But now, over three decades after the death, cops think they have solved the mysterious death and they have charged 51-year-old Jerry Watson is being charged with his murder. Using  modern DNA and fingerprint tests gave they believe a hair follicle found in one of the towels by the body could be his KPTM reports.  

Also, one of the nearby magazines had Watson's name written, then scratched out.
Bonnet's car went missing, and was eventually found in his home town of Cicero, Illinois, The Nebraska plates were replaced with ones stolen Iowa.
Watson, who is currently serving time for burglary has denied any part in the brutal killing and his lawyers are claiming that there's no record of when the car was stolen, nor the exact day that Bonnet was even killed.
They also said no murder weapon was retrieved, and multiple people had key access to the apartment, and to the car.
Cops however remain convinced he is the killer and are determined to see the case brought to trial.
